Frequently Asked Questions
About This Website |
|
1. What Do We Call The Different
Designs?
Crown. In our work, a Crown is flat
across the bottom and rises to a regular set of points on top.
Our style of Crown is also called a
Coronet.
Circlet. Our Circlets are flat on top and
on bottom, with nothing protruding above or below the
borders.
Diadem. While "Diadem" technically means
any ornamental headpiece, our Diadems start at the point in
the front and gently arch over the sides of the wearer's
head.

2. What Metals Do We Use?
German
Silver. Although it is silver in color, German Silver contains
no true silver. It is a corrosion-resistant, malleable alloy of
copper that resembles sterling silver. It is also called Nickel
Silver or White Brass. We use nickel-plated beads in our
German Silver work for their wear-resistance, durability, and good
color match.
OK Gold. Like German Silver, OK Gold is
an alloy of copper. It is similar in appearance to 14Kt gold, but
contains no real gold. We use durable gold-plated beads that are a
good color match to OK Gold, and allow us to offer the OK Gold at
the same price as German Silver.
Copper. A soft,
reddish-orange metal. Although they are not shown widely on our
website, most items we make in German Silver and OK Gold can be made
in Copper. Copper-plated brass beads allow us to offer any of our
beaded items in Copper too. Warning: Copper tarnishes very fast
compared to any of our other metals.

3. What About The Beads We Use In Our
Work?
Gem Beads. We offer semi-precious
gemstone beads in 8 millimeter and 6 millimeter size. Refer to the
first column at left for available choices for Gem
Beads.
Czech Beads. Czech is short for
Czechoslavakian Crystal, which is a high grade of colored
glass crystal, usually of reliably consistent color, size and shape.
We use 8 millimeter and 6 millimeter sizes in our
work.
Metal Beads. All our metal beads are 6
millimeter, which make a beautiful contrasting background for the
Gem and Czech beads.
German Silver - Nickel-plated beads.
OK Gold - Gold-plated beads.
Copper - Copper-plated beads.
